Bridging peace and progress: Inside the mission of MP Malang
As a new era of peace and development unfolds in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Hon. Butch P. Malang stands out as one of the most steadfast and proven pillars of public service. Serving as a Member of Parliament (MP) and Administrator of the Special Geographic Area and Development Authority (SGA-DA), his leadership continues to leave a deep and positive impact across the region.
Trust in his capacity to lead was further solidified on March 24, 2025, when he was officially appointed as a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority or the Bangsamoro Parliament. His appointment followed a formal nomination by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), serving as recognition of his unyielding dedication and deep understanding of the historical aspirations of the Bangsamoro people.
Since 2022, MP Malang has carried the responsibility of serving as Administrator of the SGA-DA. In this role, he skillfully oversees the 63 barangays comprising the Special Geographic Area – formerly under the province of North Cotabato – ensuring that every community receives essential public services, infrastructure, and development programs directly from the regional government.
Beyond his administrative and legislative duties, MP Malang is widely recognized for his active participation in peace and security mechanisms. He serves as a key member of the Task Force Conflict Resolution and Management, where his office directly collaborates in resolving local disputes to maintain order, stability, and unity among neighboring communities.
His reputation in peacebuilding is further fortified by his crucial role in the Technical Working Group on the Transition of the Ceasefire Mechanism of the MILF and the Technical Working Group on Small Arms and Light Weapons. These initiatives reflect his relentless drive to manage the proliferation of loose firearms and foster a safe, peaceful environment for every Bangsamoro family.
In the legislative arena, his progressive vision remains firmly focused on public welfare. As a Member of Parliament, he actively advocates for the integration of Human Rights Education and the institutionalization of the Incident Command System across BARMM – proposals aimed at safeguarding fundamental human rights and enhancing the region’s disaster preparedness and crisis response capabilities.
With the historic September 14, 2026 1st Bangsamoro Parliamentary Election approaching, MP Malang stands ready to elevate his public service to greater heights. He is running as the District Representative for the 1st District of the Special Geographic Area under the Bangsamoro Federalist Party, backed by citizens who trust in his principles and effective track record of governance.
A leader equipped with extensive experience in governance, peace mechanisms, and effective development in the Special Geographic Area – this is MP Malang. His proven integrity, expertise in public administration, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people solidify his position as a competent and dependable public servant for the future of the region.
